The tumultuous Piano Concerto by George Gershwin is the main work in this concert – each piece in the programme has the letter ‘G’ associated with it, either the composer or the title! This splendid concerto was orchestrated entirely by Gershwin himself and is full of glorious melodies and catchy rhythms.

Richard Wagner is featured in the scenes from Götterdämmerung, an orchestral tour-de force showcasing the most dramatic orchestral moments from this remarkable opera.

Glinka, Grieg and Glazunov also provide some lovely moments of light relief.

This performance is not likely to be suitable for children under 5 due to the acoustics in the auditorium. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Under-10’s are not permitted to sit on the balconies.

Food and hot drinks are not permitted in The Tung Auditorium.
