Edmund Rubbra’s small scale tenth symphony is scored for chamber orchestra in a single three-part movement. It is a reflective work with a unique and engaging soundscape, maybe conjuring up a hint of Sibelius at times.

Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.21 needs no introduction. A perennial audience favourite it became even more popular after its beautiful slow movement was used in the film Elvira Madigan.

Written on a monumental scale, Schubert’s final symphony “The Great” is full of the melodic inventiveness you would expect of the great songwriter and brings the concert to a triumphant end.

There will be a free pre-concert talk starting at 6.45pm that all ticket holders are invited to attend.
