Lauryna is an accomplished solo pianist and chamber musician with a career of more than two decades which has seen her perform throughout Europe.
Her diverse repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary works which likes to blend in themed programmes in interesting ways. She is passionate about introducing audiences to new works by composers from around the world, never forgetting to include pieces from her beloved Lithuania as in today’s recital world premiere by Justina Repeckaite.
The programme, Frozen Light, is a celebration of life, nature, light and music: transcending all boundaries. As American-Brazilian-British Physicist David Bohm (1917-1992) said: “life and light are the same essence in two different states of existence. One is the formless, spiritual Light we call God, and the other is the transformed expression of that Godliness we call Life”. Lauryna says “The power of light and life lies in a simple fact that they are inseparable. Each piece that I chose for this programme is fused with life and light; as we approach the end of the year Bach-Busoni’s Chorale and Ghost Variations by Schumann reminds us of timelessness of music and our being.”
