La Serenissima, directed by violinist Adrian Chandler, explores the fusion of musical styles across 18th century Europe.
This programme unites Vivaldi’s virtuosic Bohemian concertos with music by two European composers, Ariosti and Corbett, whose travels may have enabled them to work ‘undercover' as spies, alongside a fantastic example of Telemann’s ‘mixed-taste’.
Twice winners of the Gramophone Award, La Serenissima is celebrated for its vivid performances, scholarly insight and rediscovery of forgotten masterpieces. With infectious energy and expressive precision, the ensemble brings to life the brilliance, beauty and enduring legacy of Italy's golden age.
