Language fascinates prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw, and Three Essays considers the power of words to inform, mislead and enrich.

Rushworth Composition Prize winner Rob Hughes turns to pop, jazz, rock and electronica for inspiration, while Gabriela Ortiz presents an atmospheric tribute to composer and ethnomusicologist Violeta Parra.

Colourful Latino folk textures also flow through Miguel Farías’ Ligereza and Roberto Sierra’s Sinfonietta.
