The Tung turns five, and Milap invites you to celebrate with an evening of music.

Hindustani music is largely improvised, so what you hear will exist only on this night, in this room. Debapriya Adhikary sings, Samanwaya Sarkar answers on the sitar, and Kousic Sen’s tabla gives their conversation its pulse and momentum.

Debapriya and Samanwaya share a teacher, Padma Vibhushan Girija Devi, the “Queen of Thumri”. Together they co-directed the award-winning film Girija: A Lifetime In Music, a portrait of her life in music. Kousic is a familiar and much-loved presence at Milap concerts.

For this event, you can choose a ticket price that suits you: £5, £10 or £20 (plus booking fee).

This performance is not likely to be suitable for children under 5 due to the acoustics in the auditorium. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Under-10’s are not permitted to sit on the balconies.

Food, hot drinks, and alcohol are not permitted in The Tung Auditorium for this event.
